Ramadan Traditions Around the World

Ramadan is a month long holy period celebrated by over 1.2 billion Muslims around the world. The focus of the month is on the Qur’an and on fasting where Muslims do not drink food or water from sunrise to sunset. In addition to religious activities, during this time, Muslims also try to improve themselves, their families, communities, and environments. The end of Ramadan is celebrated with the Eid holiday where Muslims exchange  Eid gifts and spend time with family. One of the most popular gifts that Muslims give during Ramadan to their family and themselves is new Eid clothes. Some Muslims use Ramadan as an opportunity to reset their whole wardrobe with a variety of new Ramadan and Eid outfits! Muslim traditions are diverse and vary around the world. In some places traditions continue while others are making their own new traditions.
